Malaysian Dentists must undertake CPD
Feb 1st, 2010 | By admin | Category: Dentistry NewsMalaysian private dentists will soon have to take part in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) if they plan to keep practising private dentistry.

This is Government backed and dentists will have to take part in this new incentive, and law.
The way the cpd scheme will work is that private dentists will go to CPD Seminars and other CPD studies organised by the Malaysia Dental Association (MDA) . The MDA works closely in conjunction with the Malaysian Dental Health department.

The president of the MDA , Dr Lee Soon Boon, said:
The new scheme was developed to further advance the quality and standard of dental care in Malaysia. …………CPD is essential for dental practitioners to maintain and improve their knowledge and skills throughout their working life.
“CPD has been compulsory for dentists in the civil service for the past five years and we believe that expanding the scheme to private dentists will greatly benefit the profession.”
The new CPD ruling for dentists will include 50% of Malaysian Dentists, as this many work and operate in the private dentistry sector.
The MDA is not to be confused with the MDC, the Malaysian Dental Council. Every person who wishes to practice dentistry in Malaysia is required by law to register with the Malaysian Dental Council.
